| Funitel
system |
Funitels are advanced versions of gondolas. Their special characteristic
is the use of two parallel haul ropes from which the cabins are suspended.
The first systems (DMC = Double Mono Cable) used double mono cables
synchronizing the two independent drive units, one for each haul rope.
The Doppelmayr system (DLM = Double Loop Mono Cable), which was also
used in Ischgl, consists of a continuous loop per section driven by
a pulley with two grooves.
Funitel systems offer outstanding lateral stability for operation
at high wind speeds and have large transport capacities. The special
pneumatic cabin suspension in modern funitels ensures that the passengers
enjoy the ride in maximum comfort, making funitels the system of choice
for main feeder services in large ski areas. |
